Vancouver based designer Kim Rosin, delights in all things around her: the natural world, sublime art and functional design. Fusing the influences throughout her life, she draws on inspiration from her meandering travels across the world, guided by her thirst for knowledge of diverse cultures, traditions and art. Trained in Fine Art and Art History in her native South Africa, Kim lived in London and Seattle before settling in Vancouver, Canada. Her first job, at Sotheby’s, surrounded by the most magnificent art and artifacts, was a formative experience. Subsequent careers at illustrious London interior and architecture firms developed her aesthetic sensibility.
Her useful everyday products, enlivened by her signature fabrics, began as a personal mission in the late 90’s. Appreciating the curiosity of her young boys, flora and fauna metamorphosed in her work. Kim took every opportunity to draw and appreciate bugs, birds and plants through her sons’ eyes, noting details of nature we take for granted. This evolved into her iconic niche style evident today, with a torrent of whimsical design ideas and creative applications.
